Tyler – Matt Baxter Luceno


At La MaMa E.T.C., Matt has appeared in numerous readings in the Shadow Festival as well as the Experiments Play Reading Series, including a reading of Chemistry of Love last year.  He’s excited to return to “Tyler” for a world premiere run at La MaMa alongside this wonderful cast and creative team.  He recently performed in a workshop of The Dutch Play, by Owa, with The Experimentals and directed by George Ferencz.

Theater includes: King Lear with Stacy Keach, directed by Robert Falls (Shakespeare Theatre Company – Helen Hayes Award Outstanding Resident Play), Ion (STC), It Pays to Advertise (East Lynne Theater Company), Julius Caesar (Shakespeare on the Sound), The Island of Doctor Moreau (original adaptation, Piper Theatre Productions), The Merry Wives of Windsor Terrace (Brave New World Rep), Uranus, a play about waste (Superhero Clubhouse), Scapin (Turtle Shell), We Too Are Mammals (Overturn Theatre Ensemble), Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Allentown Shakespeare), The Marquise (Noel Coward Festival), The Laramie Project (dir. Joan Potter), and three productions of Hamlet.  TV/Internet: “Shark Week”, “Guiding Light”, “The Passion of Tebow”.  Matt has done voice-overs both in radio and for ESL audio books, and has performed in many comedy clubs including Gotham and Comedy Cellar doing sketch comedy, improv and stand-up.  The stage adaptation of The Island of Doctor Moreau, which he helped conceive and devise with Piper Theatre, has been accepted into the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.

Matt holds a BFA in Acting from SUNY Purchase, where he also received the President’s Award in Acting.  He is a former Fellow at Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C.
